Roland in 2012 (1926-2016)

Roland was an unusually multi talented, productive and energetic individual who died at his Hastings studio aged 90, marking the end of a creative and extraordinary life. (See Film Interview in About)

He was a painter, printmaker, sculptor, clockmaker and producer of animation films.

He exhibited regularly as a member at the Rye Society of Artists as well as in Hastings, Brighton, Maidstone and London. His work has been collected by several important Museums and Galleries including the Towner, Eastbourne and the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia.

After his death in 2016 and 2019,  3 retrospective exhibitions, which were highly successful, were held at the Fleet Gallery in St Leonards on Sea. as well as 2 Open Studio events as part of Old Town Carnival Week.

In August 2025 further exhibitions of Roland's work will be taking place in at the following venues:-
